Summer Ball Without the Sacrifice: Jr. Panthers x Velo Baseball

On the heels of a successful 2022 campaign that resulted in a first-place finish in the Eliminations and a third-place finish in Canadian Nationals, the Panthers are poised to build on a talented core of players and make another championship run in 2023.

We’re excited to join forces with the U22 Panthers and bring something unique to the Junior Intercounty.

With summer ball, often comes the sacrifice of prioritizing training and development due to a lack of cohesiveness between an athlete’s training plan and their playing schedule. We aim to change that this season.

Pitchers and hitters that wish to train with Velo Baseball over the summer will have the option to choose whether they want to prioritize playing time or training in their schedule. Working closely with the Panthers coaching staff and having a Velo Baseball coach on the bench as the pitching coach for the Panthers will allow training plans to be biased towards either a playing priority or a training priority and in-game workload to be accounted for within your weekly training plan.

OPTION 1: TRAINING PRIORITY

  • Ideal for athletes that still wish to see in-game action and compete for a national championship but that need to prioritize strength gain, increase lean body mass, add pitches to their arsenal, and gain velocity.

  • Playing time will be limited to allow for more training economy to be dedicated to achieving your goals.

  • Game action will be planned strategically to fit your training timeline and goals.

OPTION 2: PLAYING TIME PRIORITY

  • Ideal for athletes that did not see a ton of action during their spring collegiate season and need to see live action.

  • Playing time will be prioritized when designing your training plan and dividing your weekly schedule.

  • Your training plan will aim to keep you in peak physical condition and performing at your best throughout the season while leveraging downtime in the schedule to address deficiencies and areas of weakness.
